Future Ship 9220 Arrives GSO

March 9, 2010
China Eastern's B-2256 has been waiting in HOU for a few days. It was suspected the sale transaction was going to take place here and that it would ferry to GSO under a DAL callsign. However, this is not the case as it flew as CES599 again to GSO. But reguardless, future ship 9220 will get a complete overhaul here to bring it up to Delta standards.
Ship 9217, the first MD-90-30 to arrive at GSO back in October should be finishing up soon and ready for its entry into Delta service.
N642DL Removed From Storage

March 7, 2010
Ship 642, a 757-200, ferried from VCV to SAT yesterday as DAL9997. While it has not been confirmed, my best guess is that it has been removed from storage and is going to get an HMV at SAT prior to return to service. Anything with more information, please advise:

TOC Seven Times Bigger Than When Originally Built

March 6, 2010
The very informational Marie Force has provided us with some historical facts about Delta's TOC in ATL. When it was opened in December 1960 it was known as the Jet Overhaul Base. Originally it had 9 acres under roof (which was huge at the time), but has now expanded by at least seven times that. In 1998 the roofed area was up to 63 acres. That's about half the size of the entire ATL terminal itself!
Read Marie's blog posting about the history of the TOC.
Read a 1960 brochure about the opening of the new Jet Overhaul Base.

Next MD-90 In USA - KHOU?

March 6, 2010
A MD-90, still flying under a China Eastern callsign: CES599, has hopped its way across the Pacific. The routing has been ZSSS-PGSN-PKMJ-PHNL-KOAK-KHOU. It is unknown at this time what aircraft has arrived in HOU. It is also unknown as to why the aircraft has been sent to HOU and not GSO. Perhaps there is no space available at GSO. Anyone with more insight, please comment

UPDATE: The aircraft has been identified as B-2256 which will become ship 9220. Source
5500 Series May Be Painted

March 5, 2010
While it has not been confirmed by official sources, it is believed to be true that the 5500-series 757-200s, otherwise known as the 75N sub-fleet, will be repainted into the Delta livery. It is unknown, however, how long these birds will remain in the fleet.
Undisclosed sources indicate that the rest of the 757-200s will be repainted in two phases: April-May and September-November. With the DC-9-30 and DC-9-40 being phased out of service this summer, that means no Northwest-colored birds should remain as such through 2011.
Mesaba CRJ-200 Repaints Begin

February 26, 2010
Ship 7609 departed MSP for GLH today as MES3625. It will be the second Mesaba CRJ-200 to be repainted into the Delta livery.
Another Mesaba CRJ-200 beat this aircraft into the paintshop by one say. If anyone has info on the ship that went to GLH yesterday, please comment
